As is the case with sun and grog addled Pirates, it has taken us a few
days to separate the real from the imagined and to slowly piece together
the events of last Sunday. Except for the lawn jart incident, we have
officially declared the day a success.
It was a day of massive team effort, and we are happy to report no floggings
were administered until well after 6 o’clock, at which time Jane's
mother was caught in the walk-in cooler smoking a cigarette while sitting
on a box of frozen veggie burgers. Because of her senior citizen status
her lashings were limited to a paltry 10.
Otherwise, the crew performed splendidly.
Also the day was marked by a flurry of dollar bills. We the pirates thank
you like you’ll never know for not complaining about cold corn, burnt
dogs, and stupid hula hoop games. You ate, you drank, you made merry.
And together we made over 4 grand. $4042.00 to be exact. Even the pirates
were shocked at the willingness of those plundered to hand over their
coin purses. It touched our black hearts. MoveOnPAC has just started a
matching fund this week, so you can tell all your friends we made 8 grand.
Again to our volunteers, friends and attendees, to everyone who sold tickets,
helped spread the word, and to all of ye who donated all those splendid
raffle prizes... a double ration of rum for a job well done with no sucking
the monkey.
“Splice the main brace for the lot of ye!”

Our deep thanks and awe to !El Suprimo! and ?El Kabong?'s cosmic ability
to weave Ennio Morricone with Dolemite without a seam. Even the snack
bar kids were getting down.
And finally, a yardarm of huzzahs to D. Edward Vogel, mastermind and commandeer
of the big and beautiful Bengies Drive-In Theatre.
The event may be over but
our pirate's quest is not!
Feel free to throw in a handful of doubloons for the cause!
